What an incredible day!
What can I say?! After a rough time at the Regionals and a number of learnings with my young mare, we headed to Hickstead for the final of the International Young Horse 6yr old class.
I worked Rocky on Saturday evening and she felt as if she was going to explode as she tried to cope with the atmosphere of a big International show. Although she had coped so well at Hartpury, I was concerned as to how she would handle loud music as she is so noise sensitive, and our class was at the same time as all the freestyle tests! She found it terrifying and I just decided that the best way to go in the class was to take the power down and aim to get a clean obedient test that just showed her potential. She did me proud! She was terrified but she put her trust in me and apart from one little spook when she saw the legs of a sheet collector appear under the advertising boards, she was as good as gold.
We were first to go in the class and we lead from the front, although I was a little worried by a few of the other competitors!
Then came the prize giving! Well poor Rocket had never seen anything like it before, she had never had me ride her with a rug/sash on, she certainly had never had the National Anthem played and the lap of honour music certainly gave her a baptism of fire! She was incredible, I adore her so much.
So, this year has been an amzing year so far with my Princess and she will have a little bit of down time now before we pick up again for the National Championships in September.
Thank you everyone who has supported me and to all my sponsors who have been fantastic.
